Swimming Instructor (Babies & Pre-School Programme)

Part-Time & Casual Role

At King’s Swim School, we are passionate about delivering high quality swim education! Our goal is not only to teach your child how to swim but also to enhance their safety in, on and around water.

Kings Swim School’s industry leading babies and pre-school swimming programme is designed not only as an introduction to water and water safety for babies, but also to build and strengthen the parental bond in an aquatic environment.

Unlike traditional term-by-term approaches, we offer a perpetual programme that allows for continuous assessment. Your child can progress through the levels at their own pace, rather than waiting for the next term.

This approach enables our instructors to tailor their teaching to meet the individual needs of each swimmer, ensuring a personalised and effective learning experience.

About the role

This role involves teaching foundational water skills to young children, while working closely with parents in the water. Our programme is structured, progressive, and focused on long-term development — not just keeping children busy.

You’ll be supported by experienced supervisors and senior instructors, with clear expectations and ongoing guidance as you develop.

No previous teaching experience is required — we provide full training.

Available Shifts
We are currently hiring for the following times:

  • Tuesday: 9.30am – 1.00pm & 3.30pm – 6.00pm
  • Thursday: 9.30am – 1.00pm & 3.30pm – 6.00pm
  • We offer both casual and permanent positions, and can work with you to build a schedule that suits.

    What we offer

    • Your children swim at Kings for FREE (if applicable)
    • Full training and a structured onboarding process
    • Ongoing development and support from senior staff
    • A clear teaching framework and lesson structure
    • Consistent weekly hours (no unpredictable scheduling)

    What We’re Looking For

    • We place a strong emphasis on attitude and reliability
    • Staff who are consistent and dependable – our families rely on routine
    • People who are experienced and comfortable working with young children and parents
    • Staff who are confident in the water (you don’t need to be an elite swimmer)
    • An attitude of being open to feedback and willing to learn new skills
    • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with children and parents

    This role suits someone who:
Is looking for additional part-time income alongside another role, or who would like part-time hours in a friendly yet structured, team-based environment.

    Our Approach

At Kings, we don’t take a “watch and learn” approach to teaching.

All instructors are trained through a structured development pathway, with clear expectations, practical experience, and supervisor sign-off before progressing.

    We prioritise:

    • Consistency across all lessons
    • Low instructor-to-student ratios
    • A safe, supportive learning environment
    • Continuous improvement for both swimmers and staff

    Training & Development

All new instructors go through a comprehensive training process, including:

    • Observation and shadowing
    • Supported in-water teaching
    • Structured lesson planning
    • Ongoing feedback and assessment

You won’t be left to figure things out on your own – training is hands-on, supported, and designed to set you up for success.

    Why work at Kings

We’ve built a team culture based on:

    • Support and teamwork
    • Clear expectations and strong leadership
    • A shared focus on delivering quality lessons

Many of our staff join for flexible work, and stay because of the environment and sense of purpose.

If you’re already part of our Kings community as a parent, this is a great opportunity to become more involved – while your children swim for free.
